Meru Health is excited to be partnering with Cigna to offer our online therapy solution for greater mental health to Cigna customers in California, Colorado, and Arizona. We are very grateful to see Cigna drive innovation and take a courageous position in improving mental healthcare for its customers. This is a very important and timely move to help people get quick access to high quality care, especially during these uncertain times of increased anxiety and stress.

Cigna, as one of the largest health insurance companies in the United States, provides various medical insurance services to 17.2M customers in the U.S. and globally. Cigna has been investing heavily in expanding its mental health services to improve access to care, as well as offer higher quality remote care delivery for its customers.

“Almost no one is immune to the emotional toll of the COVID-19 pandemic, whether you’re on the frontlines, juggling work from home, or in self-isolation,” said Eva Borden, managing director, behavioral strategy and solutions, Cigna. “This is why we’ve accelerated efforts to bring more virtual mental health care options so that customers have easier access to the personalized support they need at a place and time that works for them.”

The Meru Health provider team is ready to start serving Cigna customers who are experiencing mild to severe symptoms of depression, anxiety, and burnout. As a company, we will continually evolve our offering to ensure superior clinical outcomes and care quality.

In case you missed it, Meru Health recently raised a growth funding round from Foundry Group, Bold Capital, and Slack. More information can be found in this Forbes article.

Meru Health also recently published groundbreaking peer-reviewed clinical results with Harvard Medical School and Rutgers University researchers. This study shows how a more holistic treatment approach to mental health — the addition of a biofeedback wearable for Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback — greatly improved treatment outcomes, showing symptom reduction rates that are 2–3x stronger than what is typically seen with the standard of care.
